There is no denying that the Aussie sun can be a killer. On some days, you may feel as though it is out to cook you. Sometimes, you just need a place to escape to in order to get away from the harsh glare of the sun. It is tempting sometimes to close up all the curtains and blinds to try to get away from the sun completely. As far as solutions go, this far from an ideal one, however. Keeping you curtains closed all the time could make the outside world think that the house is all closed up and empty A sure-fire way to encourage burglars or to make your neighbours think that you have left the country. The inside of the house will be cooler but will also be terrible dim and you will need to switch on the lights to be able to see what you are doing. As if that were not enough, you will not get to see what is going on outside or to enjoy the view from your windows.
A bit of a better option is to consider installing sun blinds. These blinds come in a wide range of finishes and textures and allow you to decide how much light you want to let in at a time. You can choose to completely block out the sun if that is what you want. This option is great for the TV room, especially if you want to catch a game during the day.
The second option when it comes to sunshade blinds is to choose a more translucent material. This allows natural sunlight to filter through and will ensure that your house is protected from the sun but that it remains light. You can have the best of both worlds.
A third option that provides the best of all worlds is the use of “unview” sunscreen blinds. These blinds allow you to see out while filtering out harmful UV rays. You get to enjoy your view, a light airy home and do not have to worry about the harmful effects of the Aussie sun.
The best thing about each option is that each can be rolled up and away from the front of the window when not in use. They tuck neatly into their housing and remain out of sight until the next time you use them. They are a great way to utilise the benefits of fabric with none of the drawbacks of curtains.
