Money spent on window coverings from Image Blinds is money well spent. Our high quality products are durable, stylish and Australian made; they will also offer you the protection from heat, sun and prying eyes that you need.
While we guarantee our blinds will stand the test of time in your home it is also a good idea to care for them properly in order to ensure that they look as good as the day they were first installed.
If you have any damage to your blinds or stains from family pets or children we are more than happy for you to give us a call for advice on how to treat this. In the meantime, here are some basic care tips
Awnings
Because awnings are on the outside of your home they have a tendency to collect more dirt. The good news is that these are easily cleaned with a hose and ammonia free soap. You can then clean them off by gently sponging to rinse with lukewarm water.
You should never use harsh chemicals or scrubbing brushes on awnings. If you plan on retracting or rolling them up ensure there is no excess moisture on them first, every time. If there is moisture when they are rolled up this will allow mould to grow.
Roman blinds and vertical drapes
Roman blinds and vertical drapes are easily cleaned. Vertical drapes can be given a gentle vacuum with the right attachment or wiped down with a damp cloth. Do not use any solvents on the slats. Roman blinds can be cleaned with warm soapy water; use a gentle detergent.
Aluminium and timber venetians
Aluminium venetians should be dusted or vacuumed gently with the right attachment. Dusting should be enough for aluminium venetians and you should ensure that slats are open when you raise them. Timber venetians also need to have the slats open when raising them; for cleaning use a damp cloth.
Plantation shutters
Plantation shutters are easily cared for with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Dusting between times can also help reduce dust build-up.
Roller Blinds
Roller blinds will most likely be the easiest to clean as there are no separate panels. Again, these will last well when cleaned using a damp cloth and mild detergent.
When you are choosing blinds for your home it is a good idea to find out the kind of maintenance that may be required so that you are aware what is involved with caring for your investment. Contact our team at Image Blinds today for more information.
